Dr R, Who I Am: Board Certified Physician, specializing in Geriatrics Rehabilitation (Retired). Practiced for over 20 years in Florida, USA in multiple hospitals and geriatrics settings. UCF School of Medicine Professor (volunteer) for almost a decade..
Consultant to multiple health care companies, and ran other physicians’ practices. Professional Speaker and Stand Up Comedian for multiple health care corporations and also for multiple cruise lines (Royal Caribbean and Celebrity). I started doing stand up comedy shortly after my 40th birthday, for fundraisers and corporate events.
Medical volunteer work in the Andes, in South America. Author of multiple publications, both scientific and for the lay reader. I live in Central Florida with my husband of over 40 years.
Doctor R's Characters
Dr. Schmutz N. Brain
Dr. Schmutz N. Brain is a bit of a jerk. He’s the primary care physician for Donna, and used to take care of Linda and Barb as well. He works for a big corporation that isn’t particularly interested in patient care.
Donna
Donna is goofy, kind, and upbeat. She’s married to a grumpy old guy, works part time at a native plant nursery, and loves weird sports. She sculpts tofu as a hobby.
Linda
Linda is a mostly retired nurse, who often talks about her health care days. She loves woodworking and her multiple boyfriends, including Hedgehog. Linda grew up in a large, rural southern family, and has lots of kids and grandchildren.
Barb
Barb is a recently sober gardener who enjoys pickleball and traveling, often with Pat. She’s working on her moodiness, some days are better than others. She’s had boyfriends and girlfriends the last few years, after she broke up with Alexei, the vodka taster. She’s a retired government worker who has kids and grandchildren.
Pat
Pat retired from a high pressure life in the New York corporate world, hoping for some relaxation on the beach in Florida. She tends to nag her son, Mercury Backseat, the nerdy engineer, who’s afraid of sunlight. One of her many exes was a stuntman, she’s presently dating Julius, among others. She enjoys traveling, often with Barb. Sometimes they play pickleball together.
